When I was a child, I was always curious as to why my mother never used this very ornate and beautiful set of dinnerware that she kept displayed in our cupboard. She talked about them coming from her grandmother all the time. Finally, I asked her what the deal was. She said she was saving them for a special occasion. I replied " what could be more of a special occasion than my sister's wedding dinner?" " You didn't even use them then." She shushed me.
