One of my favorite, yet haunting, adages is "a word to the wise is sufficient." I was the owner of a small plumbing service company about ten years ago. By small, I mean it was myself and two other plumbers.  It was a successful enough to make the three of us a decent living. On many occasions, the other two made out better than I did. I decided to sell it by myself. I later learned that I gave it away and should have consulted with a broker as to its value. Yesterday, I heard that my brother was selling his dental practice so I immediately advised him to contact a professional and obtain a dental practice valuation.
