The new breed of small business loans is upon us. Back in a day, my small farm supply business was the recipient of the first SBA (Small Business Administration) loan issued by this bank in Van Nuys, Ca. We were basically pioneers for the area. We were so closely monitored and literally harassed by hundreds of onlookers for months. I started to wish we had never applied. The bank ordered quarterly audits which resulted in enormous accounting bill that were so dear that we could have made four monthly payments on the loan had they not been necessary. I finally convinced an SBA official that the audit fees would lead toward our missing payments and he discontinued them. I hope the new loans outside the government restraints go more smoothly.
